The Sound of My Own Voice

I am a nerdy guy, but my wife does not seem to mind much. I like nerdy things from Star Trek, Shatner only, and the occassional zombie flick, and of course high and or low Fantasy, comic books, and other nerdy geeky fare.

I do not take myself seriously as to think that without these things, my whole being would unravel. Some of us gamers I think do to a large extent. Its mainly in two arguments, indie vs. mainstream games, and or, role players vs the munchkins.

Most sites I visit or seek membership, are full of this tripe, about which person's style of game isnt a real game, or muchkins are just war gamers trying to play an RPG akin to midless apes that wouldnt know a decent "intellectual" game, or have the wits to play it correctly.

And to think that all mainstream games are drivel, and trite, just because it is mainstream, like the Brittany Spears of games, wrapped and packaged for mass consumption, is well, unfounded.
Liking things because they are different is indeed no better if it is in fact no better. Liking something to be the neo-gamer, the cool, the George Clooney in a black suit, is also ridiculous.

There is rarely discussion, a sharing of ideas, but just people who argue because they can, or love to hear the sound of their own voice. I am never tempted to engage this in this debate, and it shames anyone who does. Moreover, it shames the site themselves.

I had hoped this world spanning internet would allow for these sites to save the hobby, refocus its market on making better games/supplements, and allow fellas to share their experience and ideas worldwide with others passionate about the gaming industry, tabletop first and foremost. I love to read what others do in their campaign, for any one thing, could spark a deluge of creative notions to ASPLODE from my head.

Gems are out there, decent sites, that I wont mention, because I might incur the wrath of my readers who disagree, which in my case is just me, so maybe it will not. I go from site to site using other blogger's links but never go back to complain about their linkage to a site only pinheads would enjoy. Some people do.

People like what they like. I dont make fun of some games and or gamer-styles that I do not agree with. I state why I do not like it, logically, maybe using powerpoint. People have their own opinions, and some have the ability to change their minds, while others cannot.

To each his own. Power gaming, knuckle draggin, intellectually substandard, drooling, munchkin die- rollers usually stay to their own kind. And nancy boy, costumed, hippie pretenders, that have no foot in reality, and take themselves too seriously, usually hang out together. Us moderates always have to listen to each group complain while we look for a game.

It wont save the hobby or even a local game store.

When I poke fun, I can, 'cause I am(was) any and all of these things.

No words of wisdom here... just like the sound of my own voice.
