Citizens Run for Cover

Oh yes, we did try the hero gambit with all sorts of games from V&V to Heroes Unlimited, DC, and Marvel Heroes RPG.

We settled on V&V cause it was the coolest, and had an easy system once creation was over. We had heroes from the enigmatic Pond Scum, to the mutant Armored Yak. We had characters named after cars like the Lynx, and 'Doba after Darin's Green Cordoba with the busted grill. We had alot of anti-heroes, mostly wolverine clones, like Fang Face but occassionally we would get the supers like the Paisley Arrow and Psi Scream.

Miniatures made the game come alive, as we battled villains like Psi Prime, and the Stallion.

Mike always wanted the mutant power of teleporting his opponents to the center of the sun. Not very fair, and I always nixed the idea, but he wanted it oh so bad. I played several types from the tank, like Brutal, and the vile Smelly Edna. I thought they were republishing these gems, and they would be well worth the price of admission to give these a play. Mike of course has most if not all of these from Ebay.

We had fun trying to come up with the catch phrase to match the hero. Long before "Showtime" we had our own. We had "Citizens run for cover", and "Burn Baby Burn". Tons of fun.
